About Hunter FPM · Established 2018

Founded by a practitioner.
Engaged by owners, never by builders.

Hunter Facilities & Project Management is an independent client-side project and facilities management practice. It was established in 2018 to fill a specific gap: senior, independent representation for clubs, hospitality operators and asset owners at the point where the largest cheques get signed.

The route in

Robert's route into construction was unconventional and deliberate. He began in facilities management across the United Kingdom, learning buildings from the inside: how they actually run, what breaks, and where owners were being failed by their builders. He moved to Dubai to deliver ultra-luxury villas for a major private developer and to start up an in-house facilities management capability.

In Australia

Since relocating to Australia in 2010 he has led the delivery of complex capital projects for West HQ, including the $100M Sydney Coliseum Theatre and the $30M Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatic Centre, and has delivered club and hospitality capital works as client-side project manager and superintendent across Sydney. Hunter FPM was established in 2018 and now operates from North Sydney and the Gold Coast.

How he works

Every engagement is led by Robert personally. He attends site, chairs the project control group, issues the contract instruments himself, and reports to the board in writing. If a client has a superintendent's certificate from Hunter FPM, Robert signed it.

How The Practice Works

Four disciplines, applied on every engagement.

They are not slogans. They are the reasons the contract file reads the way it does when a project ends up in front of a lawyer, an auditor or a new board.

01 / Independence

Engaged by owners and operators only.

Hunter FPM does not work for builders, developers or architects, and holds no interest in any contractor it manages or recommends. The person checking the work is never the person selling it.

02 / Verification

Every clause read in the executed contract, never from memory.

Australian Standard contracts are routinely amended by special conditions. Every instrument the practice issues cites the clause as it appears in the executed contract for that project, and the claim dates and response periods are diarised on day one.

03 / In writing

Directions, determinations and reports, with reasons.

Variations are directed before they are built. Extensions of time are determined with the reasoning stated. The board receives a monthly report written for directors. If the project ends in dispute, the file is the case.

04 / Honestly and fairly

The standard the contract sets for a superintendent is the standard we hold.

When certifying payment, time and completion the superintendent must act honestly and fairly. We do, and we say so to the builder at the first meeting. It is what makes the certificates worth something.

The Practice

Two offices. One accountable person.
